When it comes to professional gaming and esports, response time, sharpness and accuracy aren’t nice-to-haves; they’re nonnegotiable. Those same demands extend directly to the monitors players rely on, where even the smallest performance gap can change the outcome of a match.
In gaming, the margin between winning and losing can come down to a matter of pixels. For LiquidDogs, a leading specialist in producing esports tournaments and game launch events, selecting the right display technology is central to delivering credible, high-impact experiences.
Founded in 2017, LiquidDogs provides end-to-end esports tournament operations, supporting clients with administration, league operations, onsite tournament management and game preview events. Led by Managing Director Laurent Genin-Satoh, an industry veteran involved in esports since 2000, and Executive Producer David Alonzo, the team brings deep technical and operational insight into what competitive environments demand from gaming hardware.
When performance is the product
As part of a LiquidDogs activation with one of the gaming industry’s largest publishers, the objective was clear: showcase a new title in a way that reflected the performance standards of competitive play. The challenge was selecting display hardware that could keep pace with high-speed gameplay while accurately rendering the game exactly as the developers intended.
“For this type of game preview event, the equipment matters just as much as the content,” Genin-Satoh explained. “We want to show the game to its fullest with the highest resolutions and the best refresh rates, so players and stakeholders experience the product the way it’s meant to be played.”
A display partner that could meet the moment
To deliver a high-profile gaming showcase at scale, LiquidDogs needed more than capable hardware. It required a display partner that could deliver proven performance, consistency and reliability under tight timelines. For a winning co-op solution, the team turned to Samsung, a brand it had worked with previously and trusted for high-end display technology.
“Samsung is well-known for its quality and for the type of products we need,” Genin-Satoh said. “Whenever we think about monitors, Samsung is one of the few brands we would seriously consider.”
With one of the publisher’s marquee games being previewed and played by a highly selective audience, the brief called for 380 high-performance gaming monitors.
Specifications weren’t optional details, but foundational. Whether players were competing in first-person shooters, battle royales or multiplayer online battle arenas, refresh rates, response times and panel technology all played a critical role in maintaining smooth, competitive gameplay.
“We had very particular specifications that we needed,” Genin-Satoh noted.
The fast-paced nature of the game placed heavy demands on the displays, requiring monitors capable of handling rapid motion, high frame rates and sustained performance throughout the event.
For LiquidDogs, delivering that experience also meant ensuring the technical and operational backbone of the event performed flawlessly from end to end. From tournament operations to on-site infrastructure, every element had to work in sync to support competitive gameplay and live demonstrations.
“We handle the complete tournament infrastructure for these events, from administration and league operations to managing the on-site environment for players and publishers,” Alonzo said.
Fortunately, Samsung has worked with professional esports teams, and, since the early days of professional gaming, has been producing monitors specifically developed to be the best display technology for gaming.
Performance, size and value were not the only important factors in the decision. Beyond sourcing 380 monitors to specification, LiquidDogs was further tasked to design, setup and manage the game preview event with a turnaround time of just five weeks. Samsung’s powerful display technology, combined with its ability to supply large volumes of it on a compressed timeline, ultimately proved decisive.
LiquidDogs selected the 32-inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF, which fulfilled all requirements.
“We were looking at the G8 and G7 as they both fitted into what we needed,” Genin-Satoh said. “As for size, 27- and 32-inch panels are preferred for showing a game, as they’re not too big and not too small. We chose the G8 32-inch as the pricing was competitive, and we were happy to invest a little more because it delivered a more premium look and feel.”
Plus, Genin-Satoh emphasized, he knew he could trust Samsung logistics.
“If we need something quickly and in large quantities, we know that we can rely on Samsung. It was a very short timeline, but it was a very smooth process.”
Performance-defining specs for competitive gameplay
One of the most important considerations for LiquidDogs when choosing a gaming monitor is image clarity. At higher levels of play, what appears on screen directly influences reaction time, decision making and accuracy. That’s why LiquidDogs deployed the Samsung Odyssey
OLED G8, built around a 4K QD-OLED panel delivering a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution and a 1,000,000,000:1 contrast ratio for exceptional detail and depth.
For the live event, the G8’s definition, depth and color accuracy could elevate every moment on screen. With the monitor’s 250 nits of typical brightness and a wide color spectrum, visuals appear more lifelike and precise. Whether players were competing in fast-paced sports titles or navigating expansive RPG environments, the increased resolution made it easier to identify opponents, read terrain and track movement across both dark and brightly lit scenes — all of which can translate into a competitive edge.
The OLED panel takes this further by delivering true blacks without pixel light bleed. Samsung’s Glare Free technology minimizes reflections from external light sources, enabling the OLED screen’s black levels and color performance to remain consistent and easier on the eyes, especially over extended gaming sessions.
Refresh rate and response time were equally critical considerations. In action-heavy titles where timing is everything, smooth motion and instant responsiveness are non-negotiable. The Odyssey G8’s 240Hz refresh rate and ultra-fast 0.03ms response time were key factors in its selection, effectively eliminating choppiness, screen lag and image tearing. The result is fluid, judder-free gameplay that keeps visuals sharp and aligned with player inputs.
Together, these specifications ensured the monitor could keep pace with the demands of the featured title, allowing visual fidelity and performance to work in lockstep.
Game on: LiquidDogs and Samsung deliver epic gaming event
LiquidDogs’ campaign to deliver a knockout gaming event went without a glitch. Powered by high-performance displays, rapid logistics and responsive support from Samsung, the event delivered an immersive experience that resonated with both the publisher and guests.
“With publishers like this, not getting feedback is usually good news,” Alonzo said. “It tells us the experience worked exactly as intended.”
According to Genin-Satoh, the Odyssey G8 monitors performed seamlessly throughout the event and were a clear highlight for attendees, with several guests even requesting to purchase the displays for their offices or homes after experiencing them firsthand.
Beyond event-day performance, the Odyssey G8 also delivered long-term value for LiquidDogs. With its high-end specifications, the monitor represents a more future-ready investment for the company’s inventory.
“We used to have to buy new monitors every few months. With this investment that we’ve made, we know these monitors are going to remain relevant and usable for several years,” Genin-Satoh said.
The smooth setup was matched by a fast and efficient teardown, which is valuable to LiquidDogs from both a cost and time perspective when working with tight venue schedules.
“We repackage all the monitors rather than using the manufacturer boxes for storage and shipping,” Genin-Satoh explained. “We build custom cases to protect them and to speed up setup and teardown. Because of that, the ability for the monitor to rotate vertically is important, as our cases are designed around that orientation. We were able to teardown all the monitors in about half a day, which made a real difference.”
Display technology shaping the future of esports
From large-scale esports arenas to VIP game launches and private LAN events, display technology plays a defining role in how games are experienced. As esports continue to evolve, monitors will remain central to delivering faster, more immersive and more visually precise gameplay.
Samsung’s cutting-edge Odyssey gaming monitors continue to push display innovation forward, with advancements such as immersive curved designs, glasses-free 3D experiences and refresh rates reaching up to 1040Hz in Dual Mode. As resolutions move toward 6K and pixel densities increase even further, next-generation gaming experiences are poised to become more lifelike and responsive than ever.
For LiquidDogs, partnering with Samsung ensures access to display technology that not only meets today’s performance demands, but is built to support the future of competitive gaming and live esports experiences.
