Nearly 20 percent of fatal road accidents are related to driver fatigue, and worker fatigue is a leading cause of injuries in construction, energy and many other fields involving irregular shifts. With these statistics in mind, Ability Wearables CEO Shiv Madan has been working tirelessly to build wearable solutions to manage and address fatigue-related accidents.

“We’ve identified some of the key variables that come from the sensors on the watch and more accurately identify when a person is about to fall asleep,” Madan told us at Mobile World Congress Americas in San Francisco last month. “We can provide that information to managers to more appropriately allocate workers to assignments.”

By partnering with Samsung, Madan notes, Ability Wearables was able to get all the data that they needed when identifying fatigue, making research and development work much more streamlined.
