Mobile technology is one of the most important tools for public safety agencies, helping to improve situational awareness and officer safety. It’s also changing the game when it comes to coordinating emergency response efforts across multiple agencies.

“We’re 16 years after 9/11, and we still have a massive inoperability problem,” said Blueforce Development Corp’s Michael Helfrich at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in Philadelphia last month.

Blueforce Development has been working public safety agencies to provide mobile solutions that support information sharing, intelligence analysis and inter-agency shared situational awareness.

“Mobility allows me to describe my physical state to a dispatcher without having to crack the [microphone]. It allows me to send information that can’t be described over a radio.”
