A key piece of the Samsung mobile management story is being able to create what’s known as a “gold master image.”

“A gold master image is being able to create a standard set of software, apps, policies and other configuration options that can then be deployed out to a fleet of devices,” explains Jon Wong, Samsung’s director of B2B mobile product marketing, during a recent interview in New York.

This functionality is part of the Samsung Knox Configure toolset, and allows enterprise mobility managers to significantly shorten the time it takes to get phones and tablets ready for deployment.

How can we quantify the business value of the gold master image approach to mobile deployment? According to Wong, a recent study by Forrester found an impressive 164 percent return on investment by using customization tools to build a gold master image.
