The Challenge
TGL presented by SoFi, a revolutionary new golf league from TMRW Sports co-founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, needed cutting-edge digital signage to bring its all-new indoor arena-style team golf to life at the purpose-built SoFi Center. With non-stop action and a high-energy atmosphere, displays would have to be integral to each shot. The venue would also need to seamlessly transform for each match, displaying new team colors and branding instantly. Traditional static signage wasn’t an option. With a tight timeline leading up to the inaugural season, TGL required a trusted display partner that could innovate and adapt quickly. Samsung digital signage solutions emerged as the ideal choice, providing the flexibility, scale and immersive experience sought after. Â
The Solution
Recognizing its leading expertise, product quality and ability to adapt to the fast-paced project timeline, TGL chose Samsung as its official screen partner. Samsung’s flexibility and hands-on partnership ensured a smooth installation process, integrating high-quality digital signage across SoFi Center. An outdoor marquee video wall welcomes fans to the venue. Inside, two towering Samsung LED Wing Walls flank the projection screen, displaying match data and replays. Nearly 900 feet of LED ribbon boards energize the crowd, and team benches feature dynamic branding displays. With over 100 additional screens throughout the venue, Samsung’s technology delivers an all-encompassing immersive experience. Â

The Challenge
Redefining golf on a tight timeline
Shot clocks, high energy, non-stop action and a first-of-its-kind arena — TGL is golf like we’ve never seen before.
Created by TMRW Sports, which was founded by Mike McCarley, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, TGL is golf’s newest league featuring six teams of top PGA Tour players in a game-changing format that is supercharged with state-of-the-art technology. Being the first-ever arena-style golf league, it required a facility like no other to make this epic concept a reality.
TGL tees off at SoFi Center, a purpose-built 250,000-square-foot facility located on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. At a length of 97 yards, the unique venue is split into two halves. At one end is the ScreenZone, where advanced simulation technology allows players to hit their drives and long shots into a massive 64-foot by 53-foot fabric projection screen. Then players transition to the GreenZone for short-game and putting, where the surface contours of the green can change for each hole using actuators beneath the surface, complete with bunkers.
For audiences at home and the 1,500 fans in-venue, the challenge was to create an entirely new kind of golf viewing experience — an immersive spectacle that captivates fans, inspires new followers and amplifies the excitement of every shot. To achieve this, digital signage technology was pivotal.
“There were no existing structures that could accommodate TGL, so we had to build it ourselves,” explained Andrew Macaulay, chief technology officer for TMRW Sports and TGL. “Technology was part of the plan from the very beginning, as one of the goals of the league was to have all teams play in the same venue. The field of play had to quickly change from one match to the next with new team colors and branding. We quickly realized digital signage was the only way to go.”
Due to the unique nature of the venue and aggressive timelines of the project, TMRW Sports needed to find a display partner that could be agile as the building of SoFi Center progressed.
“We needed a partner that could flex and innovate with us,” Macaulay said. “With the very first designs of the project less than a year away from being broadcast live, we needed someone who could help us figure out challenges such as how to fit displays in a certain space or help us roll with unexpected issues because the end date wasn’t changing.”

The Solution
State-of-the-art technology for a first-of-its-kind arena
A short and dynamic build timeline meant TGL needed a partner that could offer quality products at near-instant availability. Samsung’s reputation for leading digital signage and vast experience in delivering cutting-edge technology to world-class venues led TMRW Sports to select Samsung as TGL’s official screen partner.
“We looked at experts in their field who had superb products,” said Macaulay. “Samsung was the winner. Form, fit and function all met what we were looking for.”
Working with the Samsung team throughout the build, the digital signage solution at SoFi Center showcases Samsung’s commercial-grade LED displays to create a visually stunning experience from the moment players and fans arrive.
“TGL’s goal was to harness technology to build a modern approach to sports, media and entertainment through the game of golf. They turned to us as the leader in delivering the highest quality visual experiences for fans, both in the venue or watching at home,” explained David Phelps, head of display at Samsung Electronics America.

A marquee outdoor video wall above the impressive venue entrance greets visitors, instantly getting pulses racing. The 600-square-foot XRB Series Outdoor Display with a high 5,000-nit panel brightly greets guests and promotes the current and upcoming TGL event.
Inside SoFi Center’s field of play, the arena bursts to life through an immersive, colorful array of displays strategically placed to maximize impact no matter where a fan or player is. The focal point of the collection is the unmissable LED wing boards — two 1,250 square-foot LED videoboards located on either side of TGL’s giant projection screen. The state-of-the-art VMR Series Indoor Displays take advantage of the high-resolution 2.9mm pixel pitch to clearly show match scoring, shot statistics and hole overviews.
Enveloping the field of play are nearly 900 linear feet of LED ribbon boards lining the front of the upper and lower seating stands. The 2,000-nit ISC Series indoor display technology provides TGL organizers with dazzling display real estate that enhances the live experience even for those watching on TV.
Further displays are installed by each TGL team bench, delivering exciting visuals with team branding and sponsorship that can be simply swapped at the press of a button to each team. Away from the field of play, there are approximately 100 screens in suites, concourses, locker rooms and the venue lobby for digital signage.
“Technology envelops fans and players in every corner of the venue,” described Phelps.
In addition to selecting the highest quality digital signage products, TMRW Sports Group partnered with Samsung due to its ability to deliver a complete end-to-end solution for the SoFi Center build.
“The two LED walls especially needed a full custom-designed support structure to hang from the trusses we already had in place,” explained Macaulay. “It was a really good collaboration. We always knew where things were. Samsung stepped up in all areas, especially with its agility and ability to change with us.”

The Results
Players and fans fully immersed in the live experience atmosphere
To redefine the game of golf, TGL took a radical approach to how display technology could be integrated into the sport for a never-before-seen, high-energy slice of prime-time action.
“When the players came into SoFi Center for the first time, their reaction and emotion was unbelievable. It was so much bigger and better than they thought it would be. I think the fans also feel the same way,” described Macaulay.
The high-quality digital signage plays a key role in delivering important information to players while also amplifying dramatic moments for fans.
“This is unlike anything the world of golf has ever seen. It all begins when the players walk out of the tunnel, experiencing a level of excitement, anticipation and fan engagement like never before,” Phelps added.
With team branding prominently around the ribbon boards, players utilize digital signage to help plan their approach for each hole. Plotting their strategy on a digital caddy touchscreen, the large LED Wing Walls then display their shot path complete with yardage stats. To keep the action moving, TGL uniquely employs a shot clock, something not found in traditional golf. Displayed across multiple screens, competitors can keep pace and don’t have to look far to see how much time is left. To further heighten awareness (as well as pressure), a heartbeat audio effect plays along with the shot clock.
For fans in the stands, the array of Samsung displays throughout the venue significantly heightens the live-match setting. “Samsung’s technology plays an integral role in the fan experience, enhancing their involvement, loyalty and affiliation,” Phelps explained.
Not only do the ribbon boards and wing boards show current scores, stats and player standings to keep spectators fully engaged, but when clutch moments happen, they transform the whole arena. Whether it’s Jupiter Links Golf Club’s Tiger Woods throwing the Hammer, Boston Common Golf’s Rory McIlroy crushing a drive, or New York Golf Club’s Rickie Fowler sinking a long putt to win a hole, the LED displays add to the drama with bright, synchronized flashing graphics and entire arena takeovers.
“It’s all about creating the right vibe and ambiance in the building,” Macaulay added. “We wanted the live experience to create an atmosphere that could be felt on TV, making those watching at home wishing they were there in person to see how cool it is to attend a TGL match.”
Just as crucial away from the field of play, SoFi Center uses digital signage for wayfinding to help attendees navigate the space with ease, while digital menu boards over food and beverage concessions deliver real-time pricing and availability for a smoother match day experience.
With league and team sponsors playing a significant element in TGL’s ROI, the digital signage throughout the arena can seamlessly integrate advertising messages, sponsorship or branding. The variety of displays creates an effective commercial platform that is visually impactful for live attendees and TV viewers, too.
“Sponsors have the opportunity to leave their mark throughout the arena on the 900 linear feet of LED ribbon boards wrapping around the field of play, as well as displays behind the player benches, providing revenue-building opportunities for the teams and venue,” Phelps said.
The importance of Samsung’s display technology and digital signage makes TGL possible. Combining functionality and entertainment, the immersive displays are an integral part of this tech-infused product.
“Imagine what it would be like without it,” said Macaulay. “It just has to be there.”
