Galaxy Unpacked Summer 2025 — Full replay and highlights

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event opened up a world of new possibilities with the latest Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Watch8 series.

It began with a nod to Samsung’s rich history of innovation, leading into a message that would echo through every reveal that followed: “At the center of everything we do, is you.”

Samsung President and Acting Head of Device eXperience Division, TM Roh, traced the company’s path from AMOLED breakthroughs to the rise of Galaxy AI, emphasizing that Samsung’s mission has always been to “push beyond limits and reimagine what technology can do. And most importantly, what you can do with that technology.”

Read on for highlights from Unpacked, including standout features designed with business users in mind.

6:05: Galaxy Z Fold7 – Slimmer, smarter, stronger

Won-Joon Choi, President and COO of MX Business at Samsung, introduced the Galaxy Z Fold7 as a monumental leap for mobile devices and “the ultimate expression of Samsung’s craftsmanship.” It’s the thinnest and lightest Fold yet, with a re-engineered hinge, a restructured camera layout and material refinements down to the titanium layer. A short segment featuring Samsung users tied the upgrades back to what people actually want in a phone today.

Content creator and Samsung collaborator Parker Burton, also known as “That Android Guy” on YouTube, followed with a hands-on walkthrough, noting why slimness is meaningful in a foldable design to avoid adding weight or bulk to your pocket. He emphasized the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for performance, immersive displays, the 200 MP camera, and the latest One UI 8 on Android 16 with Galaxy AI-enabled features like enhanced multitasking and a redesigned Now Bar.

14:20: AI is the new UI

Samsung’s vision for Galaxy AI takes a big step forward with One UI 8. The update focuses on creating more ambient, intuitive interactions. It’s built to anticipate and assist rather than simply react.

Choi pointed to two key shifts behind Samsung’s vision for the mobile AI experience. The first is multimodality. Galaxy AI can now understand language, visuals and audio all at once, replacing single-mode inputs with a real-time view of your activity.

The second is personalization. One UI 8 can recognize your routines, plan ahead and provide the right information at the right moment. Always prioritizing privacy and security, Samsung has built a new Personal Data Engine that keeps your information on your device, further protected by tried-and-true Samsung Knox Vault technology.

18:25: Gemini shines

The Google–Samsung partnership continues to push forward mobile innovation in the world of AI. Rick Osterloh, SVP of Platforms and Devices at Google, took the stage to show what that partnership looks like in action. He demonstrated how the popular Circle to Search with Google feature is getting a major upgrade with AI Mode. You can now circle something on your screen, ask follow-up questions and get contextual responses with links and deeper insights.

And that’s just the start. With Google Gemini built into Galaxy devices, users can now talk to the assistant about anything they see through their camera or on screen. Gemini can even take actions across apps like Notes, Calendar and Reminders, so your conversations can flow directly into next steps.

Everything is ready out of the box, with six months of Google AI Premium included. The segment closed with a story from a New York food and beverage business owner illustrating the Galaxy Z Fold7’s versatility.

26:45: Next era of Galaxy AI

Annika Bizon, VP of Brand and Channel Marketing at Samsung, discussed the convenience of having Galaxy AI along for your workday. Open an article and get a summary with a tap. Use Writing Assist to clean up a draft in seconds. Drag generated images across the expansive foldable display. “It’s the true AI companion every self-starter deserves,” Bizon said. “It will support you in getting things done in previously unimaginable ways.”

Bizon explained how Now Brief delivers personalized insights and recommendations each morning, pulled from across your apps. It brings you more of what fits your routine, when you need it. To keep that experience secure, Samsung is introducing Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) for app-specific encrypted environments at the hardware level.

Performance specs back up everything shown at Unpacked. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy brings a 38% CPU boost for faster processing, a 41% NPU boost to handle AI features more efficiently, and a 26% GPU boost for smoother graphics in gaming and video editing. The 200MP main camera includes a 44% larger image sensor for sharper images and more detail. Video dazzles too, with autofocus and AI editing tools like Audio Eraser, capable of removing even loud background noise in one tap.

37:00: Galaxy Z Flip7 – Pocket-perfect

Dale Hogan from Samsung’s product marketing team introduced the Galaxy Z Flip7, the thinnest Flip with the longest-lasting battery (up to eight more hours of video playback) ever seen in the series. The internal display is thinner too, while still vibrant and uninterrupted — and when open, the screen boasts a 6.9-inch display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The refined hinge also helps slim the profile even further, and FlexWindow now delivers a smoother, more spacious cover display experience.

With One UI 8, the Galaxy Z Flip7 cover screen brings your essentials front and center, including more than 20 apps with widget support, plus full customization options to match your personal style. Now Brief is also available right on the FlexWindow, along with Gemini access via the side button.

Demos showed Gemini helping with a camping checklist and FlexCam capturing every angle of a skateboarding session. Instant Slow-mo makes it easy to turn any moment into a replay-ready clip. The 50MP camera, powered by the ProVisual Engine, naturally enhances lighting and color for Samsung’s most versatile selfie experience to date.

Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, which brings the same 50MP camera, ProVisual Engine and Galaxy AI features, at an even more accessible price point.

45:50: Galaxy Watch8 series: Powerful, intelligent, personal

Next up was Samsung’s smooth and new wearable lineup. John Englehardt from Samsung product marketing detailed how the Galaxy Watch8 series advances health tracking with new hardware, smarter software and a refined design. The new cushion-style housing is thinner and lighter, with an updated sensor that sits closer to the wrist for enhanced accuracy. It features a 3 nm processor that powers faster performance across the board, dual-frequency GPS and BioActive Sensor.

Sleep and exercise took center stage, tied together under the message: “Your day starts the night before.” Samsung’s upgraded sleep tracking tools monitor your sleep stages, blood oxygen and snoring, and then translates it all into personalized daily tips and bedtime reminders to support better recovery. The new Running Coach feature turns an initial 12-minute jog into a full fitness profile, with over 160 professionally designed sessions available. Englehardt said it helped him hit a personal best, before welcoming champion runner Jacob Kiplimo for a quick cameo. Kiplimo praised the watch for being “light, comfortable and easy to wear,” and emphasized the importance of recovery and discipline when training.

The Galaxy Watch8 is the first smartwatch to measure antioxidant levels in your skin using a thumb sensor on the back of the device. It also introduces vascular load, a metric that tracks stress on the cardiovascular system to help guide healthier lifestyle choices.

53:35: Samsung acquires Xealth

Galaxy Watch8 is perhaps the wearable centerpiece in Samsung’s broader goal of helping people take a more preventative approach to their health. That goal is reinforced by the company’s recent acquisition of Xealth, a digital health platform that connects more than 500 hospitals with healthcare vendors. The aim is to bridge the gap between everyday wellness tracking and clinical care. Xealth CEO Mike McSherry joined on stage to explain how the integration will bring Samsung Health data into physician workflows, enabling more actionable, personalized care that meets users where they are.

The segment closed with a lighthearted narrative showing how small, consistent choices like better sleep and daily movement can build momentum toward long-term health and high performance. Galaxy Watch8, Watch8 Classic and Galaxy Watch Ultra all run on One UI 8 Watch with a streamlined interface and the new Now Bar. And for the first time, Gemini comes built into your Galaxy Watch.

1:02:45: A step forward in sustainability

Unpacked took a reflective turn with a short film that followed a fishing crew in the Mediterranean working to pull plastic waste from the sea. What began as a small effort soon grew into a movement, as sorted ocean plastic now gets repurposed into raw material for new products. The story served as a powerful reminder that even small actions can ripple outward, in this case turning waste into a resource and laying the foundation for a circular economy.

The message segued into Samsung’s own sustainability update. Returning to the stage, Roh reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its Galaxy for the Planet initiative. The latest Galaxy devices now feature nine recycled materials, including newly added recycled lithium and plastics sourced from discarded fishing nets. It’s a step forward not just in eco-conscious design, but in aligning cutting-edge technology with long-term impact.

“These devices elevate the smartphone experience to new heights, setting a new bar for what’s possible,” Roh said, closing the show by citing the day’s central theme. “Life opens up with Galaxy.”
