Samsung Unpacked 2026 unveiled a lineup of foldable mobile devices that cover more ground than any before it. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 transform business on the go — and at the office — thanks to their multitasking features, long battery life and suite of Galaxy AI tools.

But they also each serve unique use cases that allow you to choose the perfect device for yourself if you’re a business owner, and your team if you’re an enterprise buyer.  

Here’s a breakdown across six key areas to help IT leaders, procurement teams and business decision-makers choose the newest Samsung foldable mobile device that fits them best.

1. Design and form factor

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the thinnest Galaxy Fold ever made, measuring just 4.1mm when open. It also folds down to a form factor that feels as natural to carry as a standard mobile device.

“When you’re moving between meetings or jumping from a call to a presentation, you need a device that’s durable enough to keep up,” said Kadesh Beckford, smartphone specialist product manager at Samsung.

At Galaxy Unpacked, Beckford highlighted the new Flex Titanium display structure featured in both Galaxy Z Fold8 models. Using a titanium alloy film roughly one-third the thickness of a human hair, it delivers exceptional strength in an incredibly slim design. The Armor Flex hinge opens with smooth precision, and a low-reflection display finish keeps the screen readable in direct sunlight.

While both devices share these durability innovations, Galaxy Z Fold8 takes a slightly different approach to productivity. Its wider, shorter form and 4:3 inner display are designed for reading, reviewing and document work — although it’s also great for side-by-side multitasking. While the Ultra is the thinnest, Galaxy Z Fold8 is the lightest foldable Samsung has ever made.

Galaxy Z Flip8 is made for the workforce that moves. It’s both the lightest and thinnest of the Flip series. You can tell Samsung has prioritized pocket feel, with the Flip being the smallest of the trio.

The 8-inch inner screen on Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the largest ever on a Samsung foldable. The main display runs side-by-side apps at full usability. For example, a video call and a live document can be open simultaneously with no compromise on either. At 3,000 nits peak brightness, it stays readable outdoors, and a low-reflection finish on the main screen appears on Galaxy Fold for the first time.

Galaxy Z Fold8 sports an inner screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio, ideal for reading text on a digital screen. Hannah Trott, omni-channel marketing manager at Samsung, called it “a digital library in your hand.” Furthermore, the 5.5-inch cover display handles key business apps from Microsoft, Google Workspace and others without unfolding, useful for quick communications during a meeting.

Galaxy Z Flip8 boasts a FlexWindow that is the most substantially upgraded cover screen in the Flip lineup. Running One UI 9 on Android 17, it now supports full-screen apps with the same gesture navigation as the main display. For times when unfolding isn’t realistic, the FlexWindow can handle most of your daily communications independently.

3. Performance and battery

The 5,000 mAh battery on Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the largest ever in a Galaxy Z Fold, and a dual-path charging system brings a completely drained device to 67% in 30 minutes. Galaxy Z Fold8 holds a 4,800 mAh cell with the same 45W wired and 20W wireless charging speeds. Both can deliver a full day of heavy use and then some.

Galaxy Z Flip8 contains a 4,300 mAh battery with 25W wired charging. This fits a device built for portability and extended session work, with up to 31 hours of video playback. Its efficiency outpaces the Fold models for streaming and continuous media consumption. 

As for performance, all three devices run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. Cristiano Amon, president and CEO of Qualcomm, described the chip as “delivering the computing and connectivity that makes it all possible,” referring to the agentic AI layer running across the Galaxy ecosystem. The Hexagon NPU processes AI directly on the device, which delivers both speed and privacy.

Galaxy AI on the 2026 foldable lineup works in the background while you focus on what’s in front of you. As Beckford put it at Unpacked, “This is AI designed to help you move through your day.”

A prime example is Now Nudge. The AI-driven feature delivers context-aware assistance across notifications, the keyboard and an ambient overlay without requiring you to open another app. When a colleague mentions a meeting time in a thread, Now Nudge pulls your calendar into the conversation so you can respond without switching screens.

Another feature, Gemini Notebook, consolidates photos and documents from a meeting into organized outputs.

Every Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 device includes six months of Google AI Pro.

Agentic automation handles multi-step tasks — booking travel, placing orders, making reservations and so on — across more than 40 popular apps with a live progress view that keeps the task visible while you continue using the device.

Galaxy Z Flip8 employs Now Brief. It lives on the FlexWindow and gives you proactive insights and recommends actions before you ask for them, no unfolding required. For roles built around movement and quick access over extended sessions, it’s a nice configuration.

Across all three devices, AI Control via mobile device management (MDM) gives IT administrators granular control over exactly how AI operates. Using the Knox Service Plugin, IT can turn off cloud transmission for specific Galaxy AI features, restrict or disable individual AI agents —including Gemini, Perplexity and Bixby — and limit on-screen data transmission to external servers.

As Won-Joon Choi, president and COO of MX Business at Samsung, said at Unpacked, “Control is not a burden. It is your right.”

5. Security

All three mobile devices include Samsung Knox, Knox Vault and Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP).

Security starts below the app layer. Knox Vault physically separates the secure processor and memory inside the device that isolates passwords, biometrics and encryption keys from the rest of the system. Even if the operating system is compromised, Knox Vault’s contents stay protected. KEEP extends that architecture by creating encrypted, app-specific storage environments, ensuring each app can access only its own sensitive data.

For IT teams managing a distributed fleet, Knox provides centralized device management including remote wipe, secure boot protection, real-time threat monitoring and container-based separation of personal and corporate data. Knox E-FOTA lets IT stage and deploy firmware updates on their own schedule, reducing patch lag without disrupting workflows.

AI Control via MDM is part of the same security framework. Giving IT the ability to define which AI features run, what data they are able to access and whether any of it leaves the device can help close the gap between AI adoption and data governance.

6. Galaxy business ecosystem

All three devices connect users to Galaxy’s robust business ecosystem, with a host of features, apps and capabilities working in tandem to achieve business goals.

Samsung Account for Business streamlines enrollment, provisioning and device management and integrates with existing MDM infrastructure. Galaxy Connected Experience enables message and call continuity across Galaxy devices, Quick Share across Android and iOS and cross-platform file sharing without additional software.

Samsung DeX turns any of these devices into a desktop workstation. Connect to a monitor, keyboard and mouse, wired or wirelessly and the interface switches to a windowed, PC-like environment. For any professional who previously needed both a phone and a laptop to stay productive in the field, DeX makes the second device optional.

Galaxy Z Fold8 adds one further capability: Partner Business Apps. More than 5,000 applications were optimized specifically for Galaxy Z Fold8 displays. These include the full Microsoft 365 suite, Google Workspace, Cisco Webex, Adobe Creative Cloud Pro, Bloomberg and SAP. For organizations already running these platforms, Galaxy Z Fold8 arrives ready to work with them on both screens, without requiring IT to troubleshoot compatibility after deployment.
