How hotels are transforming the guest experience with digital signage

Anyone who travels knows the hotel experience starts before you even walk through the door. Dedicated apps tied to loyalty programs and beacons can begin messaging guests in the run-up to arrival, speeding up check-ins, personalizing welcomes and highlighting services.

This experience extends from the reception desk to hotel services and guest rooms. Hotel operators are increasingly using screens to help guests navigate the property, raise awareness of high-margin services and take the strain off front desk and concierge staff during busy check-in and check-out periods.

Hotel signage also sets an immediate tone for the guest experience. That can range from a three-display-wide welcome screen behind a reception desk to video walls in public areas that amplify the hotel’s brand image and ambiance. As display technology advances, so too do the number of applications. Here’s a look at how leading hotels are raising their game with technology today.

Greet guests in the lobby

As guests arrive, single displays or clusters of tiled screens behind reception counters can provide a universal or customized welcome message. If a large share of that week’s bookings involves a business convention or sports tournament, participants can be recognized at check-in, enhancing personalization.

To fully ensure hotels make a lasting impression the moment a guest walks in, they are incorporating dynamic, large-scale displays like SamsungThe Wall. With its superior color purity, high brightness and low-reflection black background, this microLED video wall is ideal for lobbies. Hotels can draw in guests immediately with The Wall’s immersive visuals, making any content on the screen stand out. The same goes for The Wall All-in-One,  which features built-in components and simplified installation that make a video wall attainable for even small boutique hotels.

Beyond serving as a resource for guests, digital signage can also help relieve pressure on hotel staff. With Samsung VXT, hotel teams can simplify content production and centrally manage messaging across displays, making it easier to keep guests informed without requiring staff to answer every question in person. Displays can provide 24/7 access to information about hotel amenities, local attractions, events and services, particularly helping reduce the burden on busy reception and concierge teams during peak periods.

Add to the ambiance, don’t compete with it

Not every screen needs to announce itself as a screen. In lobbies where design details matter as much as amenities,

Samsung The Frame HL03H Series lets hotels bring in technology without disrupting the space’s look and feel. Its

4K QLED display doubles as a design feature — when not in active use, Collection Hub shows curated artwork, photography or brand visuals. Optional magnetic bezels also let hotels match the frame’s finish to their surrounding decor.

That same flexibility carries into guest rooms. The Frame for Hotels Series pairs its art-forward design with connected hotel services, giving guests a screen that shows personalized artwork or an AI-generated Generative Wallpaper background between viewing sessions, then switches to streaming, casting or digital concierge features tied to the Samsung platform LYNK Cloud. For hotels building a consistent design sensibility from arrival to guest room, The Frame for Hotels Series takes that story all the way through.

Enhance wayfinding, meetings, menus and EV charging

Large-footprint hotels with meeting and banquet facilities may be hard to navigate. Wayfinding and directory signs are useful for directing guests throughout the property, including to business meetings, luncheons and special events in the banquet and meeting hall areas.

Increasingly, digital signage software platforms are linking with hotel room management systems to automatically display meeting room information. At the entrances, small screens — such as Samsung’s light, mobile Color E-Paper EMDX signage — display who has booked each room. Replacing paper, these signs might feature a company or organization’s logo, detailed information or even a photo of a newly married couple for a wedding reception. When the room booking changes, so does the sign. Behind the scenes, platforms such as Samsung LYNK Cloud let hotel operators centrally manage signage content across one or multiple properties while leveraging guest and property data to deliver more targeted messaging, streamline operations and uncover insights that can help drive additional revenue. Hotel room management may also place digital signage in or near elevators to direct guests to restrooms and other necessities.

Food service managers are using digital menu boards and other screens to replace printed materials, enabling them to change menus and promotions by time of day, season and what needs more publicity. Even fine-dining restaurants are using tools like Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Series to replace cumbersome wine menus with digital versions that offer more details and integrate with inventory systems, so if a wine isn’t in stock, it doesn’t show.

Meanwhile, meeting and event planners are taking advantage of digital hotel signage to instantly re-theme event halls by changing the visuals on large video feature walls. Outside the hotel, at electric vehicle charging stations, displays may serve as mini billboards with constantly changing content, such as traffic conditions, charging information, advertisements, menus, community messaging and more.

Transform guest room entertainment

Guest rooms bring their own set of digital upgrades, too. Dedicated hotel apps can turn a Galaxy mobile device, like an S26 Series phone, into a secure room key. Once inside, hospitality TVs like Samsung HU8000F Smart Hospitality TV and Samsung HU7010F Smart Hospitality TV can be turned on to greet guests with a personal message, thanks to a tie-in with hotel management systems. Guests can access their favorite streaming services and cast media wirelessly from their personal devices via Google Cast and Apple AirPlay. During the guests’ stay, the same display can also promote premium hotel services and amenities.

In high-end suites, LED video displays like The Wall and The Wall All-in-One provide guests with a memorable, immersive viewing experience for whatever they watch, whether it’s a late-night movie, their favorite streaming shows or video tours of the local area. Indeed, it may make it hard for them to leave the room.

Digital signage powers smarter hotels

Digital signage is helping hotels get smarter every day. Out front, eye-catching, dynamic screens elevate the guest experience in dozens of ways. The same goes for the back end, too, as displays start to play a role in training new staff and alerting them when rooms are available or guests request services. Together, this technology does more than look good; it helps hotels operate more effectively.
