When it comes to protecting data, you might be surprised to learn that smartwatches can be as at risk as phones and tablets.
Just ask Samsung SDS’ business development manager for enterprise wearables, Gabriel Murphy. “Without management capabilities, the data on smartwatches is at risk,” Murphy told me at the recent Enterprise Wearable Technology Summit in San Diego. “Any of the data sitting on that hardware becomes at risk if it’s lost or stolen,” he added.
It’s one reason Samsung is hard at work integrating management and security capabilities into their Gear S smartwatches. “Through our EMM, we’re able to secure devices, enable passcodes, remotely wipe devices and reset back to its original configuration if recovered,” said Murphy.
