Chromebook sales are surging. In a market where market share for Windows-based PCs continues to slide downward, Chromebook sales – across all brands – will grow at a 22 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years, according to ABI Research. A large part of that growth is in the education segment, which has embraced Chromebooks for their utility and affordability.

While it’s true that Samsung Chromebooks are increasingly popular among educators, there are still plenty of legacy PCs and Macs installed in classroom environments. In a recent study by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), the 2015 Future of Digital Learning Survey, 81 percent of respondents said they use personal computers or laptops in the classroom, compared to 52 percent citing tablets and 23 percent citing Chromebooks.

Some would say the predominance of PCs poses a barrier to solution provider sales of Chromebooks, given that schools have neither the time nor the money to rip and replace their existing technology infrastructures.

Samsung understands that schools aren’t likely to surrender their legacy investments, even for a less expensive platform of equal or greater value. To address the legacy installed base and facilitate Chromebook sales for solution providers, the vendor has developed the Chromebook-CloudReady Package.

Through a partnership with Neverware, Samsung has created a classroom bundle that delivers best-in-breed technology to schools, while reducing the number of IT ecosystems they need to support and allowing them to protect their legacy investments in hardware and software. Neverware’s CloudReady operating system, built on the same foundation as Google’s Chrome OS, can run on almost any hardware platform, providing schools with a cost-effective way to bring the Samsung Chromebook experience to legacy computers.

The total solution, offered through Samsung solution providers, comes with 100 11.6-inch Chromebook 3 laptops, 100 CloudReady licenses, 200 Google Device Management Console licenses, and technical support.

With a reinforced, rugged design, 11-hour battery life, and a slim, lightweight form factor, the Samsung Chromebook 3 is ideal for the classroom, offering a top-notch learning platform at an affordable price. More than just an education-friendly hardware device, the Samsung Chromebook 3 fosters collaboration and engaged learning with easy-to-use applications and available licenses for digital content and workspaces.

The Samsung Chromebook 3 is perfectly suited to budget-conscious and time-strapped schools and their IT staffs. Ready to use right out of the box, the Samsung Chromebook 3 is easy to maintain, with no need for manual upgrades or downloads. What’s more, the N3050 Intel Celeron processor and high-definition graphics mean that schools don’t have to compromise performance for low price.

Meanwhile, CloudReady takes just minutes to install. Once completed, both legacy devices and Samsung Chromebooks can be managed using the Web-based Google Device Management Console, which allows IT administrators to track assets, create user groups, install and block apps, control user access, configure network access, and customize user features.

By offering dedicated toll-free technical support, Samsung takes IT concerns off the minds of educators so they can focus on the job at hand: expanding young minds.

With the Samsung Chromebook-CloudReady Package, schools can enjoy the best of both worlds. They get a brand-new fleet of state-of-the-art laptops while turning existing machines into cutting-edge learning tools that offer the same ease of use and low total cost of ownership as the Samsung Chromebook 3.

For solution providers, the CloudReady bundle means spending less time on unnecessary network infrastructure overhauls and software installations and more time working with schools to develop and deploy innovative tools for teaching and learning.
