I returned to Las Vegas this week for InfoComm 2018, where all signs were pointing to the future of audiovisual technology. While on the ground, I spoke with industry experts, executives and influencers about where AV professionals can make the biggest impact.
“I would say there’s a huge role for the AV industry to play in the public space,” said Amar Bakshi, creator of Shared_Studios. He believes there is a way to stitch communities together in a richer, more diverse way and that digital signage experiences can be a part of that change.
It was especially apparent while on the ground that signage and visual technology can impact almost every industry, from retail to healthcare to transportation.
“Sports and entertainment is the biggest area [of opportunity] because you have so many guests coming through your spaces, and displays are a way to engage them,” said BJ Vander Linden, CIO of the Utah Jazz. He knows firsthand the impact exciting signage can have; the Jazz recently updated their home arena with multiple interactive digital displays that improved the overall fan experience.
One thing’s for sure … the next generation of signage is certainly bright.
