The power and possibilities for Samsung’s Smart Signage Platform has evolved dramatically since its introduction five years ago. The newest generation of the all-in-one displays a fully legitimate alternative to using separate PCs or media players for digital signage projects.
The fifth generation of Samsung Smart Signage has the most powerful System-on-Chip (SoC) media processors to date, and runs on the Linux-based operating system, Tizen 3.0. The operating system is used in numerous Samsung consumer devices, and a commercial version has been optimized to drive digital signage applications.
“It brings a lot more power, flexibility and compatibility with HTML5 standards,” says Samsung senior business development manager Phillip Chan, “so you have very robust playback, as well as some flexibility to re-use some code and adapt some code that was done for a website, but is now able to be used for a Smart Signage application.”
