I’m thrilled to share that this week, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) made a “Mobility Monday” announcement that Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones have been approved for use with the Department of Defense Mobility Unclassified Capability (DMUC).

DMUC is an enterprise service that allows Government Purchased Commercial Mobile Devices (CMD) access to DISA Information Network (DODIN), Defense Enterprise Email (DEE) and encrypted email and secure chat, as well as an app store of DISA-approved apps.

We’re excited to continue to work with the Department of Defense (DoD) on its ongoing mobile-first strategy. With increased productivity, improved security and the ability to access and share information from any location, mobile capabilities are essential to mission-critical operations.

The Galaxy S9 smartphones are mission-ready devices tailored for deployment in tactical environments. With these devices, DISA can take advantage of a number of customizable solutions, such as Tactical Edition, which enables:

  • Enhanced situational awareness: As a mission-capable military smartphone, the S9 offers the ability to keep the user connected to the objective wherever the mission takes them with a tailored software suite that integrates with common tactical radios and peripherals used in mission-critical environments.
  • Faster deployment that’s easier to manage: This device can be placed in the hands of the user when they need it with hosted or on-premise enrollment and management options through Samsung Knox designed to meet agency-unique requirements.
  • Highest certification standards: The Galaxy S9 devices are enabled for use in classified communications. The Galaxy S9 Tactical Edition is CSfC, CC MDF PP, DoD APL, STIG FIPS 140-2, IP68 certified.

Ultimately, for DISA, this means military leaders and personnel will have greater flexibility and improved user experience from the office to the battlefield — backed by defense-grade security.

We look forward to continuing our support for DISA, and helping the agency take their mission to the edge with mission-ready capabilities, enhanced interoperability, defense-grade security and seamless management and deployment.
