The Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA) 2018 Annual Meeting promises to be the largest land power exposition and professional development forum in all of North America. Thousands of members from military and industry will gather at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. on October 8-10 to attend professional development workshops, network and view the latest technologies and tools designed to improve military performance.

Samsung will join representatives from across government, academia, civic and veteran advocate groups, as well as Army leadership to showcase the latest mobility solutions and discuss top trends impacting today’s servicemembers. We invite you to join us at Samsung booth #1966 to experience how our ecosystem of smartphones, tablets, wearables and other solutions are impacting military operations and empowering commanders on the battlefield.

Harnessing the Latest Innovations for the Army

To gain mission advantage and improve situational awareness, it’s critical that the U.S. Army has access to the latest devices and most advanced networks. 5G networks will undoubtedly be top of mind for Army leaders — as 5G promises the ability to achieve more on the battlefield, ranging from complex data analytics insights to enhanced battlefield command and control, as well as seamless voice and data communications.

Deliver Tactical Advantage

Samsung’s Tactical Edition, a mission-ready military smartphone tailored for deployment in tactical environments, is enabling servicemembers by delivering a preconfigured software suite designed to support mission-specific communications systems and applications. The solution delivers communications, navigation, mapping, surveillance, reconnaissance, battlefield coordination and geospatial information capabilities to improve situational awareness and ensure battlefield readiness. All this functionality can be securely accessed in the palm of a warfighter’s hand, integrated into the uniform or mounted on equipment to help them make better decisions in theater, faster.

Enable Greater Workforce Productivity

Mobile solutions like Samsung DeX can help the Department of Defense (DoD) enhance productivity and lower costs — without sacrificing security — by enabling a secure, desktop-like experience without a laptop. Samsung DeX allows users to easily connect their latest Samsung Galaxy smartphones to a monitor, keyboard and mouse for a convenient PC-like experience. Army personnel can also leverage Route1’s MobiKEY for convenient Common Access Card (CAC) or Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card-authenticated access to a virtual desktop via their mobile device.

Collect and Manage Mission Data

Customizable tablets offer Army personnel flexibility, agility and security needed for a variety of mission applications. For example, Army Flight line operations and maintenance teams can leverage tablets to view real-time inventory and schematics, better use spare parts, manage aircraft diagnostics solutions and more. Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) and Electronic Knee Boards (EKB) can also minimize or eliminate paper use in cockpits and make real-time data more accessible for flight crews.

Enhance Human Performance

Recently, the Army doubled down on efforts to ensure servicemembers are optimizing the performance triad (P3) of sleep, physical activity and nutrition — which ensures peak physical fitness, cognitive dominance and emotional resilience. Samsung wearables like the Galaxy Watch and other wearable sensors can help monitor and track key vital signs of personnel in the field, enhancing health and performance of forward-deployed warfighters while providing quick access to vital battle space information.

Improve Health and Wellness

Mobile immersive technologies like virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) are helping rehabilitate soldiers returning from the battlefield, including through treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Solutions like Samsung’s Gear VR offer military personnel a therapeutic tool for a variety of treatments including pain management.

Training for the Future

HARMAN C2 solutions working with Samsung displays and mobile solutions offer Command and Control new ways to deliver enhanced situational awareness and training. Samsung’s HARMAN solutions comprise audiovisual applications and user-friendly interfaces, demonstrating what a classroom of the future could look like for the Army. Combined with Samsung DeX and Gear VR, trainees have access to a more agile and holistic training environment.

Overall, this year’s AUSA meeting will offer important insights into military strategy and the technologies that will help servicemembers perform at their best.
