Businesses across all industries are searching for technology that will help increase productivity. While smartphones, 2-in-1s and tablets allow employees to be more efficient on the go, much of the real productivity still takes place in the office. And, as studies have found, an ergonomic workspace featuring dual monitors can significantly impact employees’ efficiency and comfort.
CDW, a leading provider of integrated information technology solutions, recently implemented Samsung curved monitors for a select group of executives and sales managers at its headquarters in Chicago. A Fortune 500 company employing more than 7,000 people, CDW is a fast-paced business environment where employees are working on multiple applications simultaneously. The new desktop monitor configurations deployed included 34-inch ultra-wide format displays as well as dual 27-inch displays, providing plenty of screen real estate for multitasking.
Multiple Displays and Multitasking
Executives, managers and salespeople today are required to work across multiple applications at the same time, while also responding to email in real time. Dual monitors enable workers to see more windows and information simultaneously, reducing the need to toggle through tabs.
According to Scott DeTota, vice president of product and partner management at CDW, multiple displays can have a big impact on the ability to work efficiently. “The pace of play we operate is very extreme and my ability to multitask is very important; I could have eight, nine or 10 windows open at the same time. I now have the ability to look at large spreadsheets and see the entire image on a screen, which is a very big win. It pulls me in. It feels like I am in a cockpit.”
Dave Madera, video program manager at CDW, uses an ultra-wide curved monitor workstation to efficiently complete reporting while spending less time resizing and moving windows. “I need the real estate the ultra-wide curved monitors provide in order to complete my day-to-day activities,” Madera explains. “This setup makes it easy for me to copy and paste as well as look back and forth between two pieces of data and analyze the information I need to.”
Curved Displays and Comfort
The curvature of the display creates a comfortable viewing experience by ensuring an equal distance between the screen and the user’s eyes. This is especially important in multiple monitor configurations to provide users with the best viewing experience possible. Brian Winnie, executive account manager at CDW, says it’s having a significant impact. “I am more productive, it is easier on the eyes, and I feel much better at the end of the day,” he says.
